If you are a woman and have watched the show 'Mad Men' you have probably found yourself in a man-hating spree, just like me. The lying, cheating, chauvinistic men of the series are bound to throw any self-respecting woman into a fit of rage. These men, the big-shots of the advertising world of 1960's America use, abuse and objectify women. However, there is one consolation- the series is simply a work of fiction though it represents the sub-cultures of the time and most importantly, it is set back decades ago, when the second wave of feminist movement was just beginning to arise.

But it's 2011 now. Three waves of women's liberation movement have come and gone. Women today are entitled to more rights than ever before. Yet, these mad men are still present in our daily lives. Whether it is in the crowded bus with the pervert trying to accidentally brush his private parts against ours or the boob-talker at work who never succeeds to raise his eyes above the chest level while conversing, men today sadly haven't changed much.
I list here some of the types of men that I absolutely despise and talking to my girlfriends and colleagues, they hate them too. It definitely doesn't help that the majority of the men, Nepali men to be more precise fall in one category or the other. Makes me wonder if I am ever going to find my Mr.RIGHT!
1. The DIRTY MENThese are not the 'pervs' but the hygienically dirty men who dig, fart, and scratch without any shame. They are the ones who are comfortable peeing in the middle of the road in broad daylight. They are the ones who keep their nails long; color it red, blue and black and use it as Q-tips to dig the dirt out of their ear/ nose. These are the simply disgusting men who smell bad and lack the most basic of social etiquette. There is nothing that turns off a woman more than these dirty smelling, dirty behaving and simply dirty by nature men.
2. The PERVSThe ass-grabber, the boob-talker, the thigh rubber; all of these perverts fit their way into this category of men that I absolutely hate. These are the men who are sexually aroused even by a slightest brush off against a woman, the desperate who find pleasure in pinching innocent women, the sexually deprived for they resort to the weirdest of measures to fulfill their sexual fantasies, and it kills me to say that these men are everywhere. Not just in the crowded streets of Ason or in a packed movie hall, you will find these men at work and even at schools. Absolutely creepy!!!
3. The ABUSIVECowards as they are, physically and verbally abusing women feeds their ego. The abusive men find pleasure in hurting women. Our society doesn't lack such men. Hurling abusive words at their wives and daughters, raising their hands on them and mentally affecting their well being in the process, these men lack respect for women. To hell with them!
4. The 1920's MENOne of my male classmates once said he would never marry a girl from our class because we were an outspoken bunch. To quote his exact words, " I want someone who will take care of me and my family, not someone who will be out working the whole day," read someone who will do all household chores, serve the family, massage his feet when he is tired and still not complain. He is not the only 'educated' man that I have come across who bears this sentiment. When it is his girlfriends, there is no problem- the hotter, the better. But mention 'wife' and these men want nothing but a docile maid in return. If she is independent, it becomes a problem, if she earns more than it is a definite no-no and if she doesn't take any bull shit, then she definitely doesn't qualify. These men are still living in the 1920s when women didn't have a say in anything.
5. The CHEATERUnable to keep their pants on for any stretch of time, these men don't know the meaning of commitment. Give them a pair of legs and they are ever so happy. They lie and they cheat and then they boast about it.
I don't hate men and am no virulent feminist who simply hate men for being the other gender. I despise the above types of men because they disgust me. Their lack of respect for women and their hypocritical nature doesn't deserve anything but revulsion for they are the very reasons women still feel unsafe in their own skin.
